why we love them
These energy bites are the perfect delicious and healthy snack. They’re so simple to make and great to have on hand for when you need a quick bite to fuel your energy level up. The Wild Orange Essential Oil adds a fresh, slightly sweet flavor. It even has a bit of an energizing and uplifting effect.
These energy bites packed full of energy boosting nutritious ingredients, making them a great pre or post workout bite. They’re perfect for an afternoon snack with just the right amount of sweetness to curb those afternoon sugar cravings. My kids love these for an after-school snack. They can even be frozen, then packed for a school snack or lunch and be thawed out just in time to eat them.
pro-tips
These energy bites are such a breeze to make and can easily be customized to your liking. The original recipe is from the DoTerra Blog, and I have tweaked it slightly to our liking. I love DoTerra’s oils for so many uses but this is one of my favorites. You can purchase the Wild Orange Oil Here.
The original recipe calls for Almond Butter, though I have used Peanut Butter when that’s what we had on hand and and it was great. Any nut or seed butter could be used and likely work well.
Along with the Wild Orange and dried cranberries, we like to add in a handful of chocolate chips (about 1/4 cup). The combination of cranberry, orange and chocolate is amazing! The chocolate chips make these an extra kid friendly snack!
My kids love to help make these. I buy many of the ingredients for these in bulk and keep them in labeled jars. This makes it easy for the kids to help get out what we need. Forming them into balls and rolling them in the coconut makes for messy hands, but happy kids!
